Niki and Joey chose to have their ceremony at the Gursikh Sabha in Scarborough and their reception at the Convention Centre in Markham. We were lucky to have the opportunity to shoot this couple’s engagement photos in the dynamic Kensington Market, Toronto. Niki and Joey met working the same part-time job when they were teenagers. We knew we would have no problem capturing the love and friendship these two share. Looking back on Niki and Joey’s engagement photos the strong connection they share is very apparent. We had a blast shooting these two and couldn’t wait for their wedding!
Day 1 of this marriage celebration took place at the Sikh Temple, Gursika Sabha in Scarborough. It is always a treat to be able to witness a cultural wedding. It is a totally unique experience filled with tradition and rituals – not to mention the extravagant colours! The bride and groom wore a rich shade of red. They had a huge bridal party of all their closest friends, who seemed to be more of extended family than anything. They kept the wedding festivities calm and cool when they needed to be, but more importantly – lively and fun! We also shot some post-wedding photos at Toogood Pond, Unionville. This was a peaceful setting to shoot the newlyweds – close to the ponds and beautiful walkways.
The reception, on day 2, was held at the Markham Convention Centre. Before the reception we had time to visit Milliken Park, Scarborough for romantic portraits. The Markham Convention Centre banquet hall is luxurious and has been recognized in Canada by the magazine Wedding Bells! This large wedding venue really offered up the ultimate wedding experience.
Our favourite part about working with this couple was their flavourful taste in music. Although our feet ached by the end of the night, it was worth putting our cameras down and joining them on the dance floor. We wish them both nothing but happiness! Thanks again to our venues: the Scarborough Gursika Sabha, the Markham Convention Centre, Milliken Park, and the Toogood Pond of Unionville for making this celebration fabulous!
