Samantha & Mark | Kensington MarketEngagement | Toronto
Samantha and Mark wanted to have their engagement shoot in Kensington Market, which is located in the heart of Toronto, right next to Chinatown. They chose this location for a couple reasons; the first being that Kensington has a ton of vibrant coloured murals that are painted on many of the shops and restaurants exterior walls and alley ways, which make for bright pictures with diverse backgrounds. The other reason they chose Kensington Market is because it’s always busy with people shopping, eating and drinking and generally just having a good time. Thus making the market an excellent location to get comfortable with having their picture taken in public. We definitely commend Samantha and Mark for their bravery, since this was their first time having professional photos take.
Kensington Market is a richly multicultural area of Toronto’s downtown, not only is it diverse culturally, but it is also diverse in the types of people who visit the area; art lovers, foodies, travelling buskers, entrepreneurs, students and even activists (just to name a few). When we arrived for the engagement shoot it felt like we were stepping into one of Toronto’s hippest communities, immersed with colour and culture! It was truly a unique experience!
We began shooting near College St. and Augusta Ave., starting out across the street of one of our favourite restaurant patios, Trinity Common. The rain continued to hold off after a day of downpour, the streets were wet but we were glad the umbrella didn’t have to be used in every picture. Making our way closer to Kensington Ave. we stopped to shoot near a mural that had the most amazing hues of red, green and orange.
Samantha and Mark were troopers braving the not-so-nice weather, making the very best of their engagement shoot with us, laughing, chatting and having a great time as we explored the streets of Kensington, taking pictures along the way. We look forward to shooting their wedding this June!
